The tearing strength tester follows the working principle of a falling pendulum which generates a tearing force due to its sharp edges as well as the weight assembly attached to it as per the durability properties of the specimen. to conduct the test, the operator has to condition the specimen by cutting out a slit at the impact zone and firmly clamping it between the jaws of the instrument with a rugged surface. The weight assembly along with the scale is adjusted and the brake pedal is released, forcing the pendulum to tear past the specimen and the results are indicated on the scale reading of the instrument.
