Color assessment is an integral part in Waste water treatment. Treated sample of water must be transparent in nature and no color should be detected in it. A human eye may not be capable of detecting a minute color addition in the water sample but a test equipment could.
Spectrophotometer device is used to assess color presence in the treated water sample. Presence of color in water which has undergone several water treatment stages is the symbol of existence of natural metallic ions such as iron and manganese, humus material, peat sample, growth of plankton, weeds and other types of industrial wastes.
The device uses an illumination or observation system of 45/0 degree angle which is considered to be suitable for conducting color measurement in waste water. It follows several international test standards including DIN, CIE, ASTM and ISO. For conducting color measurement on a liquid sample, operator must use universal test component along with the device. It is clear transparent box which is used to carry liquid or semi-liquid specimen for color analysis using spectrophotometer.
