The Working Principle of Drop Tester

Testronix's Drop Tester simulates and measures impact resistance for packaging materials. The test begins when the sample is placed on the base machine. This machine comprises a vertical dropping mechanism wherein a weighted impactor falls from a given height onto the sample.

Since the fall height and the weight of the impactor are adjustable, a variety of handling and shipment conditions can be simulated while conducting tests. As the impactor strikes the sample, the force of the impactor along with the extent of damage or deformation resulting from this impact is measured by the tester. This simulates the actual handling of shipments in which packaging would be impacted during transport.

It gives readings of the impact force and the damage that it causes on a meter's digital display that could be easily understood. In this regard, testing for durability and quality of packaging material has become easier because the material selected would be expected to pass the required standards for resilience and protection.
